This saying by Jack Dempsey has helped me throughout my life. It has so much meaning to me that I have it tattooed on my arm.  My name is James Schayes and I battle from DEPRESSION and PTSD every day of my life.  Most people would never know, because I hide it like many others, then at some point break.  It is a battle that I could not fight alone and I don't believe anyone else can either.   After many years of battling this by myself, hiding it from my family and friends I finally decided to get help.  Now medication and having someone to talk with has helped greatly, but I needed something else.  What I needed was ART.   When I would do anything artistic from drawing to woodworking to cooking (yes cooking is an art), I found something that helped like nothing else did.   It gave me a release to put all my depression and frustration and fear into my work and the depression and PTSD did not fight me as hard. It was still there but it was not as strong and happiness and hope would come out.  I started having good days, I started having the grip loosing from around my neck.  Now it never goes away but art has helped save me.  I want others to have the chance to use art to help in their battle, because I believe that when you start using art as a weapon in the battle against mental health, you can start winning.

That is what 3rd Eye Art is about.  Giving people a place to learn and create art, so that they can have another tool to help battle mental health.  But if you don't battle with mental health, we are here for you too.   Teaching art and giving people a place to express themselves without any negativity.  The studio opened September 13th, 2021 and has allowed people to work with  many different types of art like drawing, painting, photograph, woodworking and metal working.
